Question on part that cruise control cable and speedometer cable run into?

We have a 1983 Coachmen RV on a Chevrolet chassis. Our speedometer stopped working and my husband bought a new one but it also does not work. we noticed a round metal part that appears to be electronic that both of these cables run into but we cannot find any info on it in our repair books or online. Does anyone have any idea what this is?
