There are 192 nations in the United Nations. Why does the UK always get involved (e.g., in Libya)?

These military adventures cost a fortune and no-one knows how long each will last or wether they will be "successful". UK is currently suffering cutbacks in other areas of public spending, why do we always have to get involved? Can't we let other countries have a chance of some action?
