Do people still go to hospital for wisdom teeth removal in UK?

I had a wisdom tooth out under local anesthetic when I was about 24. I can honestly say that it was no worse than any other tooth I had our. Sadly eventually I had to have them all removed and have dentures. There was no real drama pulling it out. My mouth was very numbed up and my dentist was quick and efficient. Didnt even feel that bad after - I went off to work.
